I ♥ Bloggers: Mini Penny

November 12, 2012

Today’s portrait is Jessie from Mini Penny! I’ve been a huge fan of her blog and sartorial choices for ages and even though I’m new to this whole blogging thing, she’s always been super sweet and supportive of my blog. I appreciate that so much.

I went for sort of a traditional tattoo look with the details around her portrait. The yellow flowers are based on ones from one of her actual tattooos! It was so fun drawing her amazing hair and perfect, dramatic eye brows.

Besides sharing her great outfits–which often include bright, unexpected make-up choices–Jessie always has fun tidbits to share from her city wanderings. She just moved from Chicago to Philadelphia for an exciting new job and it’s fun to sort of vicariously tag along with her on her new adventures.

You captured her perfectly! I love the rose accents and her hair.

  • It looks exactly like her! You have always ben so talented :)

  • WOW!!! You are SO talented!!! That’s an amazing portrait, and Jessie is a new-to-me blogger, so I’m off to go read more of her blog after seeing this. :D

    • Michelle

I’m sure you’ll love reading Mini Penny as much as I do!

  • I become more and more in love/impressed with your art as time goes by <3

    • Michelle

You’re too sweet, Kailey! Thank you <3

  • Michelle – This is so amazing. I’m floored!

  • I am absolutely in love with this portrait. I love the traditional feel you went for. I’ve been a follower of mini penny for a long time and you pretty much nailed her. You’re so talented and I’m super excited to have found a new blogger to follow!

    • Michelle

Aww, thank you, Andrea! I’m happy to have you following! :)

  • Perfect times a million. Such a great choice going with a little traditional tattoo style drawing for hers. She would be a pretty rad tattoo herself :)

You are an illustration master, dude. I’m obsessed.

I thought the same thing! Does it cross into creepy territory to draw Jessie again as a tattoo-style pin-up girl? Haha, probably. She has features that translate really well to illustration! Her portrait came really easily. :)

  • I just found your blog through the mini penny blog. These illustrations are perfect! I love how you include pieces of each blogger like Kaylah’s mushroom obsession and Elycia’s cats! So cute!!
