The Big Book of Cats is a weekly illustration project. In 1998, I was 11 years old and decided to make a 200 page encyclopedia of anthropomorphic cat girls. I’ve made a vow to honor this horrific piece of literature and redraw every cat girl and post a new drawing along with the original for the internet’s amusement. Want to know more? Read my official introduction here and check out all the drawings so far here!
You’re welcome and I’m so so sorry.

So, y’know how in 80s/early 90s movies, there would be this douchey, preppy dude who would show up to talk shit and have a babe hanging off each arm? Katie is totally one of those babes. Tube dress, long hair, and a sweater tied around her neck? Yep, definitely a late 80s bitch.
Katie’s bio says that she has “peach” colored fur and I was delighted to try and make her a pale, peachy pink, but she just kind of looks “flesh” colored in a very white person way. Sort of a bummer. :/

She totally looks like one of those bitches-spot on! Also, she definitely looks super whitey white. I wonder if it would work if you changed her hair to be a pink-y peachy version of her skin? Not that you have to change anything about her, of course, since she is pretty fabulous. Just thinking out loud. :-)
I always try to be thoughtful about depicting people in a wide range of different shapes and sizes and it’s sometimes weird for me drawing these cat girls–I don’t want all of them to look too “white”, but like… they’re cats. Hahaha. I just don’t want it to seem like I’m thoughtlessly sticking ears and a tail onto a bunch of white girls. I want them to seem more diverse. I really need to try and represent different breeds of cats and experiment with more fur colors and patterns! :)
Even though shes supposed to be a bitch, I like her. She is so cute!
Oh, all my cat ladies have hearts of gold! Katie just has a bitchy attitude and a complicated backstory to justify her behavior, I’m sure. ;)
