I saw For A Good Time, Call last week. Once I looked for a more in depth trailer than the short teasers they allow on TV, my interest was piqued. I love comedies, but seem to be really underwhelmed by them lately. The promise of a raunchy comedy starring two lovely ladies will always get my attention.
I really wanted it to be good, but went in with cautious expectations. It’s getting pretty mixed reviews and of course could be kinda stupid and rely too heavily on cheap sex gags.
Um, it was basically the film of my dreams. Both lead actresses were adorable and endearing–I’m especially in love with Ari Graynor–it was so sex positive, the raunch was perfect and not played out, the characters were relatable and lovely, Justin Long is delightful, sex work as a profession was neither shamed nor glorified, and the girls had a super sweet female friendship! It was just a good balance of everything and very cute and funny. I recommend it. :)
Haha, I’m no writer, but I’d like to briefly talk about and illustrate some movies, tv shows, music, and whatever other pop culture nonsense I’m currently obsessing over. Have any of you guys seen any good movies lately?
I’ve been thinking about seeing this too! Think I’ll have to check it out now :)
Hahaha, people who haven’t seen it have kind of been side-eyeing me for loving it so much, but it’s so perfect. It’s the first movie I’ve seen in a long time that I’m excited to own on DVD. :)
