The Big Book of Cats is a weekly illustration project. In 1998, I was 11 years old and decided to make a 200 page encyclopedia of anthropomorphic cat girls. I’ve made a vow to honor this horrific piece of literature and redraw every cat girl and post a new drawing along with the original for the internet’s amusement. Want to know more? Read my official introduction here and check out all the drawings so far here!
You’re welcome and I’m so so sorry.

Your eyes do not deceive you. Susie is yet another girl whose hair is blatantly “inspired” by Sue Ellen’s from Arthur. WTF? Why was this weird, Lady-Bozo-The-Clown hairdo such a favorite of mine? This is at least the third one. Kids, man.
Let’ talk about her hands for a second. Susie definitely has six fingers on each hand. I also appear to have gone back later and drawn rounded paws over the hands. This prompted me to stop and think “Oh, did I always give them paws instead of hands with fingers?” That would make sense since for the first 30 girls, I designed a custom paw print for each one. The answer is no, I didn’t always remember to just give them paws, but it’s pretty hilarious to pay attention to just how often I desperately tried to avoid drawing hands at all. So many hands behind backs! Hahaha.
Susie’s bio page says that she’s only 9 years old and it’s refreshing that I actually seemed to understand that when I drew her in the first place. Meaning of course that she doesn’t have a giant rack. Her outfit is pretty amazing, too. I would totally rock the big, poofy skirt and cropped leopard/camo/whatever shirt she’s got goin’ on.
